The reason Greenwood Township is not doing road brining or dust control this year is because the county raised the price to over $19,000 per application nor do we have the option of when we want it applied. We are trying to locate another source, but so far to no avail. The township is considering putting a millage on the November ballot for a half mil which would give us approximately $30,000.00 a year that we can then use for dust control for 2024.
Greenwood Township will be hosting a free summer cleanup day for township residents only to dispose of items they no longer need. This is an opportunity for residents to clean up their properties that may have accumulated unsightly items over time. Township Supervisor Fred Lindsey announced that large dumpsters will be placed at the transfer site located at 3510 Red Oak Road on Saturday, July 15th, 2023 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
The dumpsters will be available for large items that one may not be able to easily dispose of. Such items include furniture, mattresses, metal, and other bulky items. The township will NOT accept normal household garbage, tires, refrigerators/freezers with freon and compressors intact, hazardous waste items, or propane tanks. Paint cans will be accepted if the tops are removed and the can is dry and filled with cat litter.
You must present proof of residency to participate, i.e. tax bill. The Township hopes to have assistance available if needed. Please call (989) 786-7872, extension 5, for questions or additional information.

Please note that the November 8 board meeting will not be held due to the election.
